A Graduate Research Assistantship is available for a Ph.D. or M.S. student to study urban tree development and biomechanics, particularly how branch allometry and wood material properties are modified during the transition from juvenile to mature wood. Missouri Dept. of Conservation, Forestry Recovery Coordinator

The Missouri Dept. of Conservation is seeking to hire a Community Forestry Recovery Coordinator to work in the Joplin/Duquesne area and assist public and private efforts in restoring the community forest.  This position is grant-funded thru the U.S. Forest Service with funding to last approximately 2 years.  https://mdc5.mdc.mo.gov/recruitment/JobDetail.aspx?intPstID=tmp504

The main work is organizing all city public and private plans for urban forest recovery efforts.  MDC and the City of Joplin have received hundreds of calls of offers of time and materials but there is no one who can organize and direct all of this.  MDC is the employer and work station will be at a City of Joplin Parks office.  We are looking for someone who can attend a meeting with the Mayor and City Administrator and not feel intimidated and then go help a church group of volunteers and then manage a stockpile of donated trees.
